I am University Professor at WFU, which gives me latitude to teach in subjects ranging from historic preservation to creativity and innovation to spirituality and the arts. A common theme of what I teach and study is design -- from the plan of human settlements to the structure of organizations to the practices of the arts. I also chair the department of history, working toward development of lively collaborations with other disciplines. I came to WFU six years ago after over twenty years at Emory. I participated in the Humanities Institute seminar on digital humanities in 2012-13 with a keen interest in how digital technology may change how we think and present our research as humanities scholars.
